1. Where do you recruit candidates for positions in the Asia Pacific region?
Merrill Lynch recruits candidates from Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States for positions in the Asia Pacific region.
2. Do you visit college and university campuses to market opportunities for the Asia Pacific region?
Merrill Lynch conducts presentations at selected campuses around the world, and representatives from the Asia Pacific region join the presentations when possible.
3. How is the interview process structured for students invited to interview for full-time and summer analyst positions?
For students in Asia, both first and final round interviews are conducted at local colleges and at local Merrill Lynch offices. For students in Australia, first round interviews are held in Australia with final round interviews in Asia if the candidates are to be placed there. For students in the United States and the United Kingdom, first and final round interviews are held in major cities near selected colleges and universities. Formal interviews for summer positions are held in January through February.
4. How are applications screened?
We look for candidates who possess the qualifications identified on this website. In addition, our online application process includes a numerical test, which helps us assess candidates'' quantitative abilities.
5. Do I have to be able to speak Asian languages in order to work in the Asia Pacific region?
Asian language skills are a real benefit; however, they are not required.
6. How are summer analysts evaluated?
All summer analysts in the Asia Pacific region receive verbal feedback midway through the summer program.
7. After I complete the formal training program for new analysts, will I be able to continue my personal growth and development within the firm?
Yes. Training and development opportunities exist throughout your career, and there is local internal training available on a regular basis. In addition, Merrill Lynch offers online courses through Merrill Lynch University (MLU). For example, following the training program, analysts can enroll in MLU online courses such as Re-Tooling Your Quantitative and Analytical Skills.
8. Once hired in the Asia Pacific region, are there opportunities for mobility within Merrill Lynch?
During the course of your career, you should expect to take on increased responsibility, for example, more client interaction and managing teams. In addition, Merrill Lynch encourages mobility across its businesses and regions. Your interests, initiative, and performance will have an impact on your opportunities for mobility geographically and between business groups.
