Standard Chartered
Leading the way in Asia, Africa and the Middle East
We’re one of the world’s most international banks and a leading organisation in growing and vibrant economies.
We are well established in growth markets and aim to be the Right Partner for our customers. The Bank combines deep local knowledge with global capability. We are listed on both the London Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong and are in the top 25 FTSE-100 companies, by market capitalization.
We are trusted across our network for our standard of governance and our commitment to making a difference in the communities in which we operate. We strive for excellence in everything we do because the highest goals are those we set for ourselves, we are the Right Partner and lead by example.
Standard Chartered employs 38,000 people in 950 locations in more than 50 countries in the Asia Pacific Region, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the United Kingdom and the Americas. Standard Chartered is one of the world''s most international banks, with employees representing 80 nationalities.
We are focusing on attractive growing markets where we can leverage our customer relationships and expertise. Combining global capability, deep local knowledge and creativity provides us with competitive advantage.
Not only does this make us unique, it provides great career opportunities that are both diverse and challenging. Our international mindset offers real opportunity for career development, travel and personal growth.
Standard Chartered is a socially conscious bank and like all organisations we are operating in a climate of massive change. We are developing new strategies to ensure that our business keeps abreast of the moves to apply the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility. We strive to operate in a manner that exceeds the ethical, legal, commercial and public expectations of society and are proud to promote our support for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Some of our community initiatives include:
HIV Aids - For example in Africa, the Group has adopted a comprehensive policy on HIV & AIDS. We have rolled out ‘Staying Alive’, a HIV awareness campaign to educate employees, their families and the wider community on basic facts on HIV and prevention.
We rolled out the "Living with HIV" Campaign, which builds on the Staying Alive Campaign and includes a message of hope for those either infected or those who are affected (through a colleague or loved one).
Seeing is believing - Together we have raised more than US$1.4million enough to give more than 56,000 people back their sight.
Seeing is Believing is Standard Chartered Bank''s major global community fundraising project launched in 2003. The aim is to make a real difference to the problem of blindness around the world.
We have an ambitious target to raise $6 million for one million sight restorations. Working in partnership with Sight Savers International and VISION 2020 we can make a difference.
We take pride in our social awareness of the markets where we lead the way and we will encourage you to play a key role in making a difference to the local community. This is another reason why Standard Chartered feels different to a generation of talent who want a new proposition from their employer.
Standard Chartered has a rigorous talent management process in place, designed to help individuals fulfil their potential. We are a Bank who care about our people’s development, support a continuous learning culture and provide accelerated development to our talent.
Standard Chartered is diverse, challenging and fast moving. We have a passion for people''s strengths and our approach focuses on identifying and developing talent. Research both internal and external, has shown that the closer the fit between an employee’s talent and those required for the job, the greater their contribution to business performance. So, whilst there will be some core parts to your development, as you build and further your career within the Bank, your development will be focused on your needs and aspirations.
Why? Because we want you to make a difference and to be stretched. We are prepared to take risks and provide opportunities to our people recognising and rewarding great performance. This approach makes good business sense. It also makes Standard Chartered a great place to work.
At Standard Chartered we are passionate about our customers success and as part of our aspiration of ‘Leading the Way’ we have acquired the knowledge and expertise to outperform our competitors, delivering a higher level of service.
