过 APL 全称 AMERICAN PRESIDENT LINES 美国总统轮船 原来是一家有150年历史的美国船公司，后来在97年的时候给NOL（东方海皇）吞并，但还是用APL的牌子。
APL的主打航线是美国线，这和他的起源有关系，也是他的最大利润来源。
现在在中国主要分两个区，南中国和北中国。 南中国管辖宁波以南所有港口，总部在香港，北中国管辖宁波和宁波以北的，总部在上海。 后来又分了四个平行的分区，为华南，华北，香港，台湾，总称大中国区（GREAT CHINA）。
